About this trip

Are you ready for a journey that blends breathtaking nature with authentic Andean culture? Join us for an unforgettable day trip (or multi-day tour option) from the capital city of Quito into the heart of Ecuador’s Avenue of Volcanoes!

Immersive Indigenous Art in Pujilí: We’ll start by diving into the vibrant artistry of the region with a stop in Pujilí, a canton known for its rich cultural heritage. You’ll visit a local Naïf Art Workshop (often associated with the nearby Tigua community), where you’ll meet talented indigenous artists. Witness the creation of their stunning, colorful paintings—often depicting Andean life, festivals, and landscapes on sheepskin—and have the chance to purchase a unique piece directly from the creators.

The Breathtaking Quilotoa Lagoon Hike: Our main destination is the spectacular Laguna del Quilotoa, a shimmering turquoise lake nestled inside the caldera of a dormant volcano. From the crater rim, you’ll embark on a rewarding hike down to the water’s edge (and climb back up!). Marvel at the surreal colors, snap incredible photos, and feel the raw power of the Andes. (For the return journey, optional mule hire is typically available for a small fee).
